Today we recorded our dvd commentry. This was something that non of us had done before so was exciting but nerveracking. We took it in turns to introduce ourselfs and say part of the evaluation. This way it was fair and everyone got a chance to contribute. We only had to record once so we were very please with the outcome.

We have now finished all of our coursework. We have met our deadline. And we are all very pleased with our final submission of work =)

12/03/2009

Today we finished writing our dvd commentry. We plan to record it next lesson.

Today we started our evaluation. We tried to sum up all of the things we liked about our sequence and all the things that could have been improved on. We decided that more things went right than wrong which was good but there was a few things that could have been improved on.

We took each technical area in order to focus on certain parts of the sequence. We have written down everything that went good and bad however we only have two minuets to do a commentary so in later on we will need to cut down what we say in order to fulfill the examiners criteria.

03/03/09

Today we completed our soundtrack by finding a "beeping" sound for our car clip and adding this into our sequence.
Our teacher also watched our completed opening sequence and was happy with it, the only thing we may add is a voice over of Kayleigh saying "I'm Coming, I'm Coming" to add in when the car is beeping.
Today we have also looked at the questions for the evaluation, and discussed them briefly within our group...

02/03/09

Today we worked on our soundtrack. This wasn't as hard as we thought it would be, apart from the fact we couldn't find a beeping noise for our car.
However, we had been made a piece of music by one of our friends and we played this throughout the clips where Kayleigh is getting herself ready. This worked really well and made the clips much more interesting and real.
We started the soundtrack from the shot of one of the main characters names "Charlotte Jacobs" and ran it through to where she goes down the stairs. We also learnt how to decrease the volume in certain areas - we used this skill for when she is in the shower, so that you could clearly hear the noise of the shower, we also learnt how to fade the music out, and we used this for when she approached the bottom of the stairs.
Once we was happy with this, we found an appropriate car crash sound which we could use for the end. We added this in and felt this also worked well.

This was as far as we got today, but we was satisfied with this as we had got a lot done and felt it was something to be proud of.

26/02/09

This lesson, we had to add the Miramax and production company logo's into the beginning of our sequence, the two main character names, and the film title. We found it quite easy to add the Miramax logo and the RECE logo, as they were just images. These were added at the beginning with fades in between them. We then faded this into the beginning of our sequence. After a couple of shots, we then decided to show one of the main characters names, and then the other name was shown after another shot. We felt this worked well as it broke up some of the clips and made it look more professional. We then decided to add the film title at the end of our opening sequence, after the car crash.

Once we was happy with all the effects and editing, we thought about what sound effects we would need.

24/02/09

Today we all worked our hardest to make sure that we edited right down to the correct second of footage that we wanted in our movie. This wasn't as easy as it sounds. As we predicted, we did have too much footage, however we watched over our opening sequence and cut each clip down to what was essential. Once we had completed this, we had a spare ten seconds, which we could use for our logo's at the beginning and the film title at the end of the sequence.

By the end of this lesson, we was satisfied with the outcome of our opening sequence, we just needed to add our images and film title, and then create our soundtrack.

23/02/09

Today we started to edit our final work. This wasn't as easy as we thought it would be. We came across many hurdles along the way however we stuck together and over come them. We successfully managed to capture all of our needed clips. This has reassured us that working in a team is the best way to complete work.

All of the needed clips look successful, and we have captured each clip with enough time before and after the clips for the final editing. We was slightly worried the time of our overall sequence, as when planning we thought it may end up too short, however, now we think we may have too much footage - but this can easily be fixed when editing.

10/02/09

We continued filming, and shot the final scenes which were outside. the problems that occurred when filming outside were that a lot of cars came down the road which not only meant we had to avoid filming them, but it also made the shot more noisy, as you could hear them in the background. It was also dangerous to film when there were cars around as part of our film involves an emergency stop, so for this we had to make sure no other cars were driving down the road. We shot different angles of the car so we have more choice when we come to editing the piece, as we can see which angle works best. We managed to complete all our filming today.

09/02/09

Today we started filming our opening sequence. We managed to film most of our inside shots which will give us more time to film our outside shots in tomorrows lesson, which is more complicated as it will be on a busy road. the things we had to consider was continuity, we had to make sure that if we had shut a door in a previous shot, it was shut in the next shot. we also had to consider the lighting, making sure you could clearly see everything in the shot. We found that with the curtains closed it was too dark to film most shots, so we decided to include kayleigh's mum walking into her room and opening the curtains, which brought more light into the shot.

05/02/09

due to weather conditions we were unable to begin our filming on monday and tuesday, so we have decided to film next tuesday instead as we have a long period of time in which to do this. In todays lesson we were given a set of photos from films and magazines that are relevant to the genre of our film. We had to re-create these images to help give us an idea of the way in which to shoot certain scenes.

29/01/09

Today we planned what props and costumes we are going to use when filming. We have decided that our main character Kayleigh should wear a bright pink top and a skirt to reflect her girly and loud personality. We also want Kimberley to wear a skirt to so that it reflects that the girls are very close and very similar in personalitys. It also creats the impression that the girl are part of a popular "click" at college.

We will be needing a car as our main prop as we are basing our film on a car crash. The actress who is playing Kimberly has a car that is lilac and is perfect for our movie as it is a very girly car. The other props we are using are things that are already at our location. For example straighteners, make-up and products.

We have decided to film at Emily (the producers) house in reigate as it is situated in a quiet and wealthy neighbourhood. This is ideal as we are filming a car crash scene and do not want to cause any real accidents and will also not really get inturupted by many members of the public.

27/01/2009

Today we had a look at other peoples scripts and got some feedback. Some people assumed our script was too short however baring in mind most of the time is kayleigh getting ready we are not majourly concerned. We then went on and continued with our storyboards which envolved drawing out each scene and giving details on the shots, duration, dialogue, transition and mise en scene that we will be using.

26/01/09

We started on the first draft of our storyboard, thinking about the different shots we wanted to include in our 2 minute opening sequence, the camera angles, mise en scene and dialogue.

22/01/09

We had 30 minutes to prepare for our presentation, we used this time to make a note of what each of us were going to talk about and ran through everything to make sure we all understood it. Each group then presented their pitch.

20/01/2009

Today we completed our poster for the film. To create this poster, we looked at posters for films from the same type of genre and used a pink background with some photos of typical girl things, such as make-up, hairbrush, etc. We placed these around a photo of the main character, Kayleigh. At the top of the poster we put the names of the two main actors, Charlotte Jacobs and Chad Michael Murray, these were written above the title of the film. The slogan was created and placed underneath the title. At the bottom of the poster, we put the names of the cast and the companies helping us. We also put Miramax's and RECE's logo's, as well as the rating logo. We chose to rate our film as a 12A, simply because the nature of the film isn't too bad and then it would attract the right target audience.

As Kayleigh is about to leave…

KAYLEIGH

Well I haven’t seen Jason in like 2 weeks!  I have to make some sort of effort… Not that I need to try too hard – I know he’s mine.

                                                                        (giggles)

Kimberley just shakes her head with a slight smile on her face.  Kimberley loses her concentration and out of nowhere a car is coming towards them.

We started a poster to go with our presentation as well.

We completed the powerpoint we are using to help us through our pitch presentation.

We also drew out a neat version of the logo we want to use for our Production company, this will be scanned and then added to our opening scene.

We also looked at some other opening scenes of films towards the same target audience as ours.

13/01/09

We completed our synopsis:

Kayleigh was a typical sixteen year old girl who was envied by all the fellow females at her college, Ridgewell Tech.
She was popular, gorgeous and was the girlfriend of the football team captain, Jason she had every girls dream life and she knew it. However that was only up until she was involved in a car crash which left her paralysed and her best friend Kimberley dead.
Kayleigh struggles to accept her new life as her world changes. She is no longer popular and her boyfriend dumps her, leaving her feeling lonely and abandoned.
In the fight to get her life back on track, she encounters many different problems, from ones with her so-called friends to huge family and life decisions. Luckily for Kayleigh, one thing she didnt loose after her accident was her determination and willpower.
In this teenage thriller we watch as Kayleigh faces the hardest battles in life, at the young age of sixteen. We follow her through the ups and downs of how dramatic a girls teenage years can be.
Can she go back to living the life she was passionate about and that everyone girl wanted, or will she have to face all or nothing?

We are going to use Miramax distribution company as they have a wide variety of film genres.

We are now starting to plan our pitch presentation

12/01/09

Today we began by designing the logo for our production company. We also started the synopsis, understanding the outcome of our film fully, and thought of character names.

We have also decided on locations for filming.

06/01/09

Today, we looked at the different ideas we had for our opening sequence and decided what story line we wanted to use. We then developed our ideas by asking ourselves:
what?
where?
why?
when?
who? and
how?

This helped us to think through the whole film and get an idea of the props and locations that we want to film in.

05/01/09

This was the first day that we started looking at our project. We started by looking at the different things that we are going to need to create, for example the production company name and a 2 minute opening sequence of a movie.

We started by creating a production company name. For this we came up with RECE productions, simply by putting the initials of our group members together.

We then started to think of different movie genres and what we would prefer to work with. We decided we should do a chick flick. From this we expanded our ideas and came up with different types of story lines that we could develop.
